In the 80s, why was a thong leotard over lycra shorts considered sensible gym clothes for women? - 90s lycra leotard
* * A person would be a good idea before? Now, underwear and swimwear throw, well, no problem.
However, lycra shorts and a mesh strap on the top? Why?
Are they comfortable? (Fortunately I'm too young to have actually worn as a dress ...)
PS Am I right time? I believe that fashion began in the mid 80s and died in the 90s?

Those were primitive times. People do not know any better.
We have to bear very high, bare arm cotton mesh shorts cotton mid-calf or knee-length shorts - a sort of gaiters. Lycra was available, but not comfortable - make no sweat.
We want the colors to mix and have fun with it. I do not know anyone using a "strip", as they do now.

The women wear the same reason, perfectly flat belly maternity wear today ... all in the name of fashion!
